Description

The CRX2301Axx is a protection IC for single-cell Li-ion battery packs to protect against overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, and short-circuit events. By monitoring battery voltage and the voltage across a current shunt resistor (typically 1 mΩ) in the lowside path it can determine whether to block charge or discharge current and disable the corresponding charge or discharge NFET (also in the low-side path). Different orderable part numbers are available with different thresholds and delays for voltage and current protection and recovery. An additional option is whether to block or allow 0-V charging.

4、Description

The CRX5116A device integrates the necessary measurement, protection, and cell balancing functions to form the core of a rechargeable lithium-based battery management system in packs containing from 5-series cells up to 16-series cells. Voltage and current measurements, along with the on-chip temperature measurement, can be used autonomously by the CRX5116A device for protection functions, while a host microcontroller can also access these measurements for implementation of additional protection and control, including cell balancing commands. Cell balancing FETs are integrated into the CRX5116A device, while external FETs can also be added for increased balancing current. The CRX5116A can directly overdrive the gates of high-side charge and discharge control FETs using an integrated charge pump. This datasheet details the electrical, mechanical, and highlevel functional characteristics of the device. Additional information about the registers, configuration, and detailed operation can be found in the CRX5116A Digital User Guide (DCX30F01).
